Mudstacle UK OCR League

There is no denying that obstacle racing in the UK is an exciting thing to be a part of. Over the last couple of weekends we have seen complete extremes of awesomeness at major events. We’ve witnessed the UK’s best athletes battling head-to-head, as well as fun runners uniting together as a community to have a good time. Although there have been turbulent waters at times in the last year, I think this has been an important reminder of what makes obstacle racing great, what the UK community is all about and what is at the heart of Mudstacle.

This weekend our league enters its six season. We are proud to be the first and only independent cross-event league in the UK, by uniting the finest obstacle races and shining a spotlight on our best athletes. Our champions include Jonathan Albon, Conor Hancock, Ross Brackley, Freya Martin, Lucy Martlew and Clare Miller, but we love the fact that every one of us can compete alongside them in the table and strive to get that little bit closer each season.

Over the last six months there has been another league attempting to get a foothold in the UK, which has sadly lead to spats of conflict and elements of confusion in the community. We would really hate to see a continuation of that in the future. From the very beginning Mudstacle has stood for togetherness and community-building over everything else, so that leaves us with only one option - to clarify exactly who and what our league is and focus on making it the very best competition for you to be a part of.

Mudstacle LeagueAlthough we will remain as the “UK OCR League”. To avoid any confusion, we will bringing it back under the Mudstacle brand with the following logo.

We love the independence of our league but we also feel that making a clear association with Mudstacle quality is important at this stage, as it’s something that we have stayed true to since the League’s inception in 2013.

The aspects of our league that we will always uphold are the quality of our points-scoring races and our unique scoring structure – combined they both ensure a fair competition. We only invite races to be a part of our league if they meet our strict criteria. More than anything, they need to be well established, with a consistent competitive and safety record to receive our stamp of approval.

Exciting new additions this season – Teams and Medals

No doubt you’ve already heard about the Team competition we’re running in the Summer 2016 season, so if you haven’t already sent us your team name make sure you do that now (at, so that you contribute points to your team as well as yourself.

However, today’s big news is that there will be medals in the Summer 2016 season! We’d like to give you even more incentive to make your way up the tables, so we’ll be awarding medals to those who reach the higher segments of the table – Gold, Silver or Bronze depending on how far up you get. There will be plenty more news on that, along with sneak previews of the medals themselves, so stay tuned to Mudstacle!

In the meantime, start earning those points. Early season is packed with races! In the next few weeks we have the following bangers for you to get your teeth stuck into:
