Quest Adventure Races first appeared on our radar last year in Wales from their Ireland base after an inaugural event in 2017. We sent the intrepid Kuit sisters along last year and they had a fantastic experience, which is why we are so excited that they are returning to Wales on June 8th this year. If OCR has given you a taste for the outdoors and you are looking for your next challenge Quest could be just what you are looking for.
Quest started life as Killarney Adventure Race, back in 2011. 500 people took part, but since then they have grown from a little Irish endeavour, to a multi-venue adventure racing outfit, accommodating up to 10, 000 participants a year. Quests events have you Run, Cycle and Kayak over one of three routes; 25km Challenge, 42km Sport or 53km Expert designed to make them accessible to all and not just the hardened fitness fanatic.
Oliver Kirwan, Race Director at Quest Adventure Series, said: “If you’re looking to challenge yourself in 2019 and do things you never thought you could, Quest Wales is the event for you. You don’t need to be a hardened athlete, just bring your sense of adventure and we’ll provide the atmosphere and an unforgettable experience. A lot of our participants sign-up as a group and adventure races are a great excuse to plan a weekend away with friends and like-minded people to work hard and then, play hard too.”
You don’t have to worry about equipment either, kayaks are provided as part of your entry fee and if you don’t have a bike, these are available to hire at an additional cost. If you’ve ever run a 10k, the 25k Challenge route is more than achievable and gives you the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and an unforgettable experience.
There’s also a fourth discipline which takes no training … the after-party! After you’ve received your medal and taken some memorable finish line photos, you can relive the race and jump in a hot tub to enjoy some well-earned drinks and hot food with friends and likeminded competitors.
If all this sounds too good to miss, entries start from £75.00 and you can register here.
